Advance course for Botox and Filler Injection

I was looking forward for the 30th as I would be attending a seminar for the Advance Course in Botox and Filler injection. The speaker was the famous Dr Jay Galvez, Chief of section of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Hospital of Manila, one of the prestigious hospital in Philippines. In advanced level, you skill isn't limited to injection on the forehead, glabellar area, and the crow's feet, but you learn about enhancement of beauty in a given face. To actually alter the facial structure to beautify or enhance the feature, and not merely to maintain youth.
Meeting up with the man was really an experience. He is so jovial and funny. I immediately as i arrived at the hall in Hilton hotel, i was asked to take a seat next to this girl who was talking to this guy. She is a medical representative from Singapore, and the guy, who was laughing and telling jokes at her extended her hand to shook my hand. "Hi, I am Dr Galvez". I was surprised!
He is so young, cheerful, easy going, unlike the head of department of Plastic Surgery in KLGH, some Datuk who thinks he stands out among the crowd by wearing a bow tie and carries himself as is he is a "orang putih".
Well, half and hour ago, i just close my clinic and rush back home to take a shower and off i go. I decided to have a have a snack, whereelse provides a faster service than McDonald Drive Through.
And thank God I found my GPS system now. Drop me at any part of KL, I got my personal guide to take me home.

As i entered the 4 star hotel, the thing that caught my attention was the overall ambiance. Dim lights , plants strategically placed. It totally creates a calming effect .
Immediately, Dr Glavez was passing a invitation card and while doing so, he said, Dr Wan, You are the first person i am inviting you to attend my workshop in Philipines this september. I was thrilled looking at the things that he will be teaching us,

Soon the seminar started and i got prior permission to photograph every slides that he will be presenting that day.
They provided notebooks for us to write on, As i open the file, the first picture that caught my attention was this
You can tell the indepth knowledge Dr Galvez have just by listening to his ideas and concept of beauty.
Many times, we see pictures of beautiful faces, and less beautiful faces. Now, what makes a person beautiful?

Then we were asked which among these two women is prettier?
Chances are, you'll say the girl on the right side, but why? Because he has a well defined jaw and a tapering lower 1/3 of the face, high cheek bones, where else Julia Roberts's mouth is too big. Not proportionate to the face.
So what make a women beautiful?
....i am sorry, i just can't continue writing. perhaps I'll continue some other time

A step closer to prevent premature death

What else would you think when i mention these words other than Cervical cancer Vaccination. Indeed man has come a long way in studying this deadly disease which previously one has no control of. Since 400BC, the father of modern medicine, a Greek Physician as well as a sophist, Hippocrates, had described in his writings about cervical cancer patient with impending death. Later German Gynaecologist who invented the colposcope to identify early precancerous lesion on the cervix. in 1925.
Dr Hans Hinselmann- inventor of the colposcopy machine to detect early precancerous lesion of cervical cancer.

Three years later a Greek Physician, Georgios Papanikolaou, a pioneer in cytology in early detection of cancer developed the Pap Smear.
In `1974, A German virologist, Dr, Harald zur Hausen was studying and did research on Carcinoma of Cervix,has found Human Pappilloma Virus DNA in cervical cancer cells, and for this great discovery, he attributed HPV virus as a major causative factor in the development of cervical cancer.
For his discovery, he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology in 2008.

winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology for his discovery in Human Pappilloma virus as the causative agent.

In 2007, the first ever vaccine against Cervical cancer, Gardasil, which gives protection not only cancer but prevention of genital wards. However cost is a real factor on why it didn't get much response from the community.

GARDASIL
When it was initially introduced, natually due to its cost (as being the first anti cncer drugs) It boast to be a tetrvalent vaccine, since it covers serotype 18 and serotype 16, then the other 2 that contribute to genital warts.
GSK, a giant pharmaceutikal company that produces Cervarix came into the market in the mid 2008.
Being bivalent vaccine that provides 100% protection against HPV16 and HPV 18, with some cross protection with serotype 31 and 45.
However, the latest data indicated tht Cervarix give 100% protection against HPV 16,HPV18,HPV31, and HPV 45. So, my friends! Cervarix has become a tetrvalent vaccine now.

Data has shown that due to the added ingredient ASO4, its like a turbocharger in production and sustaining high level of antibody for a long duration.. at least from calculated formula, it would last at least 20 years.
Based on the head to head studies, Cervarix has been proven to be far more superior than Gardasil.
So, what are you waiting for?

For those who had this injection, the next challenge is to get and encourge women to step forward for your annual pap smear. Again and again, I emphasized, this virus attacks and is currently the number 2 killer among all cancers affecting women. Science and medicine has come a long way, and with this vaccine its like a quantum leap in science and medicine, and marks a milstone in the history of mankind being in control against a killer disease.

Advance Course in Botox and fillers injection

Right after my cervical cancer symposium finishes on the 29th, then i got invited to a workshop for Advance course the very next day at Hilton PJ.
As the cosmetic industry increases exponentially, so must our skill.Hence i was invited to attend an Advance Course on 30th july
I am excited about facial life with filler and Botox.
But the most interesting amongst all the topic..
The one topic that i look forward to listen to is the last presentation by Dr Joseph Galvez, who is the chief , section of facial plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, in University of City of Manila.
This should be interesting i been taught about faces, what is a beautiful face, lets see what i've been taught would it be the same concept here.
Then perhaps i can list down photos of bloggers with such features...! How's that!

2nd Cervarix Syposium

I received an invitation to attend another symposium on Cervarix, which is on 29 July held at Le Meridien Hotel. The presenters are Professor Peter Leslie Stern, who is a Head of Cancer Research UK, Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, University of Manchester Based at the Christie Hospital.
He will speak on "Targeting a challenging virus." It should be an interesting talk judging from the Curriculum vitae.
I have prepared a list of questions which i m eager to ask.
The second speaker is Dr Goh Choo Beng, who graduated from the medical faculty of the National University of Singapore in 1994. He obtained his specialization training in Radiology Oncology at the Singapore General Hospitak, and National Cancer Centre Singapore. His resume is impression and i can't type them all here.........i'll go straight to the point. He joined GSK in May 2007 as part of th Asia Pacific HPV vaccine Medical Affairs/Clinical R&D team and presently manages the medical affairs for the GSK adult and adolescent vaccine franchise in Asia Pasific.
As before, I think I'll skip the dinner and head for home just right after the Q & A sessions.
I hope I will enjoy this talk as much as did on the first one.

Among the numerous collection of Tupac's, This would be my all time favourite. It showed the soft and loving side of Tupac amidst his wild gangster behavior. The video is at the bottom end. He is a fighter for human rights, he tries to resolve the years of killing and hatred between the East coast gang and the West Coast Gang. He came out with the concept of Thugs Life, which lays down the rules .of engaement when rivals gangs meets.

Nothing last forever..........

It dawns upon my senses that we take our daily life as routine, how ignorant have i become. As a Buddhist and Hindu, my life based upon Dharma and Sathya made me gave up meat, and there i was a vegetarian for 8 straight years. I thought I would never harm another soul, consciously or subconsciously. I was so clear on the path that i walk upon. Seeing death routinely is part of my job description, more importantly than learning to revive a dying man is to look upon dying self. Time doesn't slow down for anyone, not even a fraction of a second. As the saying
"A year older, a year wiser." But i seem to be the exception to the rule. The quote that suites me perfectly is, "To err is to be human."
Am I being condemned to silly little mistakes in life that seemed to accumulate and snowball into this huge mess that made who i am today? Have I got no control over oneself? I do. I do have the desire to a better man. To kick off those bad habits, and walk upon the right path with head held up high, and every action isn't questionalble. I have a chance in this unpredictable lifetime of mine.
For years I walk on the valley of Shadow of Death, Life ain't blissful as i founght in a constant battle To live life of an angel or a devil Some choices were made while standing on the evil side I've prayed the same thing for years now good health to family and friend, Lead me back to the path of Truth whenever i am astrayed Forgive me for the sins that i've committed thus far in life I've been blind all these years, constantly living the devilish lifestyle Last year I was standing in front of the Pearly Gate But God gave me a second life, instead of leaving my love ones behind

Just a constant state of bliss that radiates from within.

What is their true agenda?

Parvus Sdn Bhd is a major cosmetic company that supply several cosmetic product to Doctors such BTA-X, Dysport, previously holds a stake at filler industries such as Juvederm, Aptos thread, etc..etc. I first heard of Parvus through the editors of Cosmetic Surgery and Beauty Magazine. They make their presence known by holding annual conferences on Cosmetology. However, i was rather disappointed with the medical representatives that first saw me back in 2006 upon completion of my Cosmetic medicine training in Australia. I was working as a locum at Ng and Lee Clinic, while sourcing out the items to starts a cosmetic centre, like BTA-X, (i was trained using Dysport), fillers like Restylane which was own by Innomed, however, we have always wanted to make our ninche market in sclerotherapy, treatment of varicose veins and spider veins without the need for surgery. Unfortunately, the sclerosing agent that i was looking for was Sodium tetradecyl Sulfate, or its alternative, Polidoconal, not more available in the local market.
Fine, then i made an appointment with the representative from Parvus to open an account with them for our BTA-X supply. I remember vividly that i specifically told them that i am a trained doctor in administering BTA-X and that i am looking for supply. Eagerly, they were more than willing to meet up with me.
I remembered very well the name of the rep who attended me, Adrian Yam. Thin, well dressed who gave me "the look" that says,"Aiyah... such a sloppy dressed doctor. Really a cosmetic doctor,ah?" There were this other guys who came along, Wee, if i am not mistaken. They were discussing amongst themselves for a while, then muttered the sentence that would change my perspective on them/Parvus. " Doctor, before we can sell our Dysport to you, you must attend a workshop conducted by Parvus to teach you the basics of Dysport administration, upon completion which only we're able to sell it to you." With a contorted face, how much is the work shop?"If my memory doesn't fail me, it was somewhere in the range of RM2k-RM2.8K. That's it! I was pissed and retorted at them," Didn't i clearly state to you guys on the phone that i've just completed my training in Cosmetic Medicine, and i specifically mentioned that i was trained with Dysport?!" Why must i pay to attend a workshop just to open an account with Parvus? "Oh, if that's the case, we'll go back and talk to our manager to see if you can be an exception..."
Exception? Well, f*** this!
That was the day Mr Yam eloquantly mentioned that single sentence that totally changed my perspective on this company. They are so money orietated.
Few days ago, i received this.

Nothing is free from Parvus....
As expected......

Personally, I've boycotted all the products that they carry. I found Allergen who supplies Botox, to be more helpful, and they extend all the way out in making a name for you as a practicing Cosmetic Physician. Recently, Allergan helped to organize a talk in my clinic which they advertised in a local weekly women's magazine, and on a monthly basis, they would send a rep to check up on how's things with our business, asking whether our stock is enough....etc..etc. The person whom from a doctor -representative relation that blossoms to becoming a personal friend of mine is Sri Naga Leong, the nicest, and i believe to be the most hard working representative who was working for Allergan before shifting to greener pasture in Pharmalink.
For 4 years now, i use only Botox, and nothing else. Just as Parvus mentioned in their site , first impressions does count, and it goes a long way.

What a good way to start your day!...

I have a friend who is a practices family law, whom had given me sound advice and represented me during my turmoils with my brother is law. I have learned so much from her. This morning is received an email from her, which made me reflect upon myself and my life.Its so related to all of us, and this is a piece which i would want to share with the fellow public.




Don't break the elastic!

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.

And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting.'

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day....like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Testing the efficacy of Helicobacter Pylori spot test.

Now is the perfect time to test the efficacy of the spot H.Pylori Antibody spot test, which was sold to me by this company.Thought it would be convenient to conduct the test our self compared to the conventional blood test done in the lab. And my nurse who was on MC fainted yesterday, was brought to Selayang Hospital, has a history of Malena, pain aggravated by food.

While waiting for the line to turn clearer.
Negative? So, send a tube of her fresh blood to gribbles lab to confirm this.

Who the h*** used my nick?

I was just browsing the net when i stumbled upon something really disturbing. Once a modal who created a media frenzy when her ah hem... tape leaked in the net just simply put her out of the limelight. I googled her name and what the h***!!! Someone actually used my nick that link to my site and asked about her!

Everybody knows that person. Why would for God knows any logical reason would i ask about that person in a chatterbox when you can just simply google her name?

Nah, Its this guys who works for TNB who accidentally had his little pinky cut while trying to disconnect a fuse.
